No Longer Yours — The Two Thousand Dollar Fine

Late that night, my father walked in and handed me a velvet box. Kate, Chloe was out of line today. This is my apology to you. I opened the box. A shimmering silver necklace lay inside. This was the first gift they had ever given me in 17 years.

I put the necklace away and forced myself to smile. I couldn't let anything go wrong with tomorrow's background check. thank you dad and don't forget tomorrow afternoon is my background check before I could finish Chloe's voice rang up the stairs dad come see my new bag my father

turned and left instantly without looking back I stood in the doorway staring at the necklace then I glanced at my phone Chloe's latest Instagram post. The same necklace was one of many gifts she'd showed off. I casually tossed the on the table, pulled out my soap case, and continued packing. Three shirts, two pairs

pants, one hoodie, a jacket, and the model fragments. That was everything I had. The morning, I went upstairs after breakfast. Chloe was standing in my room, holding the necklace.
