Married Above Him — The Butler's Call to Julian

An hour later, we are standing outside City Hall. The clerk hands over two gold-stamped marriage certificates. I slip mine into my bag without even looking at it. But it never crossed my mind that inside that certificate,

His last name is exactly the same as my ex-boyfriend's. I roll my suitcases out of the villa. The butler lingers by the door, hesitant. Please tell Julian I don't need the clothes or jewelry he gave me.

I take only what I bought with my own money. Three years together, reduced to two suitcases. The butler immediately calls Julian. Meanwhile, at a cabin in Aspen,

Lillian whines to Julian over a tiny cut on her finger from slicing fruit. Julian frowns when he sees the call he missed from me several days ago. Is this her way of acting out? Just as he is about to call back, Lillian throws herself into his arms.

Stop crying. I'm right here. He pockets his phone, deciding to deal with my attitude when he gets back. Elsewhere, Lucian returns to Moonlake Manor. Family lawyer Alex waits for him in the living room.

Sir, your sudden marriage will send shockwaves through the Wolfe family. The background check on Miss Black will take time. Should we keep the marriage confidential it's complete? Lucian takes the file and flips to my photo.

No need. She's special. Special how? She's the first woman to treat my marriage like a business deal instead of coveting my status.
