Vengeance Peak — A Call to Dante

The sign's right there. Where are you now? Don't embarrass me in front of Tessa. Everyone's waiting on you. Stop making a scene. in those first years every time I got lost he dropped everything and came for me don't be scared stay right there I'm coming to get you I closed our chat and

called my father's private number for the first time in six months for five years I used the family investment fund to keep Julian's company afloat he never knew six months ago when I asked for one more guarantee my father refused to sign We had a huge fight.

Then we stopped speaking. But he still sent the full wedding set up. And the man he trusted most was already in San Francisco. Dante only came to oversee the deliveries beforehand.

He didn't stay for the reception. He started looking for me when he got word I was missing. He didn't answer. I thought he was still angry with me.

I stopped chasing the wedding car to the chapel. I followed the guardrail downhill. If I took a wrong turn, I went back to the last sign and chose again. Julian thought, without him, I'd just stand there and cry in circles.
