The Godfather's Favor — The Vintage Wine Test

Every eye in the room turned to me, dripping with hostility. I raised my hand toward her face. Everyone's expression shifted at once. I spread my fingers, holding my palm right beside the mark on her cheek.

ten years of calluses on my knuckles. My hand was a full size wider than that My hand? Does it actually match that mark on your face? The finger she'd been pressing to her cheek curled slightly. You didn't even have the guts to slap yourself properly.

Get someone else to do it for you next time. I clapped my hands together, unbothered. Let me know when the show's over. I'm hungry. Dinner, and the whole family was seated. Iris stood up and poured a glass of red

her movements practiced and smoothed. She carried the glass almost all the way around the table and set it down in front of me claire try this it's an 82 vintage the taste is really something i looked at the glass but didn't touch it alexander let out a skull don't tell me you don't even know how to hold a wine glass properly whatever you do don't wrap your whole hand around

the bowl he gave my worn tank top a once over i don't care how you did things wherever you came from here don't embarrass the Bennett name Alex Claire just got back give her time I pinched the stem of the glass and gave it a gentle swirl textbook wine-holding form so you're saying I held it wrong

iris forced a smile that's not what I meant then did you actually look before you said something was I holding it wrong or not next time take a good look
