Empire of Ash — Episode 8

You can't remove Mr. Romano. Are you out of your mind? Julian's face turned bloodless. Then he slapped Clara across the face.

Shut up! Didn't I tell you to shut up? He walked toward me. Darling, you have to believe me.

There's nothing between me and Clara. I laughed and stepped away from him. Not darling. In this house, it's Donna Adria.

Clara's lips trembled. Donna? You're Mr. Romano's wife? I turned to everyone in the corridor. My voice stayed even.

No introductions have been made. I'm Donna Audiena. The commission has appointed me to lead the corporate syndicate. From today on, every name in this house answers to me.

The corridor detonated. What? She's not just Mr. Romano's wife. She's the new Donna. So Clara slapped our Donna? We're dead. We picked the wrong side.

Wait. Clara said she'd been with Mr. Romano for years. So she's the side piece? God, Claire screwed us all. Clara grabbed Julian's arm with trembling hands.

Mr. Romano, you have to help me. I can't lose this job. It's not all my fault. If you told me who she was, why would I have stopped her from taking the elevator?

If I told you, I told you to apologize. You just wouldn't shut up. There is nothing between us. Don't even think about dragging me down.

The moment Julian turned on her, Clara crumpled to the floor. Then she looked up at him and screamed. Julian Romano!
