Bride of the Damned — Enzo Favors Sophia

What can we do? The bride selection is only family custom. Sophia and I aren't getting legally married, just so Sophia's mother will stop pressuring her to marry. Worst Elena rejects Alex's oath and gets cut off. She's just a woman with no rank. Hank, what difference would losing the family's protection make?

Elena has always believed in the Mafia rules. Sweet talker, maybe you and Sophia can make this a real love story. If this was where the Mafia rules had led me, so be it. The walk back to the ranch house was short.

I opened the door. The smell of dinner hit me first. Marco hurried over. So, you asked the Don to cancel the match.

What did he say? Nothing much. My father, Capo Victor, slammed his glass down. The rules are clear.

Reject the oath and you're out. No family, no protection. And you let Alex shoot your white roses? After all these years, I was used to it.

All he ever did was blame me. He never defended me. He never felt sorry for me. Maybe it was because Sophia was the daughter of his first love.

Whenever Sophia's family was involved, he favored them, as if it were only right. This time, it was not even my fault. My mother, Isabella Ferraro, came from the family that gave father wealth and power. Yet she was too weak to stand up to my father or brother.

As long as she was safe, it did not matter who took the oath for me. The doorbell rang. Enzo and Liam walked in together. Sophia followed them.

Uncle Victor, I'm here to steal your dinner. Come in, princess. They had come straight from the bride selection at the family racecourse. Enzo's bullet had torn through Sophia's red rose.
