The Lie That Made Her — Reed's Damaged Coat

going there yeah if I can't hide anymore I might as well go I want to know whether Reed actually recognized me at 10 p.m. I've just gotten Mayo to sleep when my phone suddenly rings it's an unknown number I stare at the screen for a few seconds before answering no one speaks on the other end I stay silent

too. A few seconds later, a voice I know all too well sounds, sending a chill down my Is this Milo's mother? My grip on the phone tightens. Who's this? A faint chuckle comes from the other end. Reed Calloway. My first instinct is to hang up, but the next second he speaks in a lazy tone. Don't hung up. Your son's name tag is still with me.

I grip my phone, forcing myself to calm down. Just leave the name tag at the preschool's front desk. No. Why?

Your son ruined my coat today. I almost laugh in disbelief. You're a grown adult who blocked the preschool entrance and argued with a and you still have the nerve to ask his mom to pay for your coat?

Reed goes silent for a few seconds.
