The Lie That Made Her — The Gold Wedding Invitation

My fingers slowly curl into fists. looks like I can't pretend any longer I glanced down at Milo ignoring Camilla's question what's it to you Camilla smiles and pulls a gold-embrassed invitation from her bag never mind I'm here to invite you to my wedding I take the

invitation the groom's name Reed Calloway is clearly printed on it Reed and I are getting married tomorrow mom and dad would still like you to come back and visit since they raised you for so many years five years ago when the wit here's brought her home she used the same tactic to force me into giving up on my engagement

reed was my fiance to begin with you've been living my life for so many years don't tell me you're gonna steal him too that night i acted on impulse i slept with reed and skipped town the next day it's been five years i have no interest in rehashing the past with her so i simply shove the invitation back into her hand i'm not interested in your wedding but camilla

take it instead she speaks slowly sloan i still have those drawings of yours i freeze five years ago i left in such a hurry that i left many of my paintings and sketchbooks at the whitmaker estate and most of them are of reed when i was 16 or 17 he was always hanging around me
