Every studio can now have its own website
A studio used to be a channel page on somebody else's site. Now it can be a website with its own address.
In short
Generated Worlds creators can build a studio website from templates made for vertical drama: the front page plays their series, viewers unlock episodes on the page, brands reach them through a contact form, fans join a newsletter, and the site can run on the creator's own domain. Building is free; the first month live is $1, then plans start at $39 a month.
The creators we talk to kept describing the same set-up: a portfolio on a website builder, episodes on a video host, a membership page somewhere else, and a link-in-bio page pointing at all three. Every tool had its own bill, and none of them knew what the others were doing — a viewer who paid on one met a paywall on the next.
01What a studio site does
- The first screen plays the studio's series. Vertical episodes are shown whole, never cropped to fill a wide frame.
- Free episodes first, then viewers unlock the next one on the same page. The creator keeps 80% of net revenue.
- A contact form for brand deals and licensing that lands in the studio's Contact center.
- A newsletter sign-up on every page, so a new episode reaches the people who asked for it.
- An address at yourname.generatedworlds.com from the first minute, or the creator's own domain with the certificate handled.
- Templates built for series, edited by clicking on the page: words, pictures, colours and which sections appear.
02How it is priced
Publishing and earning stay free on every plan. The plan pays for the site: building and previewing need no card, the first month live is $1, and then Basic is $39, Grow $105 and Advanced $399 a month, with Plus by contract. Plans differ by features — newsletter sending and site analytics start on Grow — and by minutes watched on the site each month. A site that outgrows its minutes keeps playing; the creator is asked to move up.
What it does not do
It is a website, not an app. There are no branded TV or phone apps, and a studio site does not sell monthly subscriptions to a channel. If your audience wants a Roku channel and a monthly plan, Uscreen or Vimeo OTT is built for that. And a studio site does not bring an audience on its own — the link still has to be posted where people are.
Questions
- Can I use my own domain for my Generated Worlds studio?
- Yes, on every plan. Buy a domain from any registrar, add the DNS record the Domain tab shows, and the site answers on it once the certificate is issued. Until then it lives at yourname.generatedworlds.com.
- What does a studio site cost?
- Building and previewing are free, with no card. The first month live is $1, then Basic is $39, Grow $105 and Advanced $399 a month; Plus is by contract. Publishing episodes and earning from them are free on every plan.
- How is it different from Squarespace or Shopify?
- Those build general websites and stores; selling episodes means adding a video host and a paywall. A studio site is built for serialized video, so the site, the player and per-episode payments are one product.

- We removed the account from the checkout
Viewers can now pay for the next episode, or the rest of a series, without creating an account first. A password comes afterwards, by email, if they want one.
- A desktop layout that stops wasting the screen
Full screen on a computer now puts the vertical picture on the left and the episode list on the right, instead of a phone-shaped video floating in black.
