How to sell your AI series on your own domain

An audience that pays you at your own address is the only one nobody can take away. Here is what each way of getting there costs.

By The Generated Worlds editors · Published

Patreon takes 10% of what you earn plus processing and has no custom domain; Gumroad takes 10% + $0.50 per sale; Uscreen charges $49–$449 a month plus 5–10%; Vimeo OTT charges $1 per subscriber plus 10% of one-time sales. Generated Worlds hosts your series on your own domain with per-episode unlocks and keeps 20% of net revenue, with no monthly fee.

Generated Worlds publishes this and is one of the options compared. The others are described as their own pricing pages describe them.

Selling on your own domain matters for two reasons: the address is yours to print on a poster or a pitch deck, and the relationship is yours — the viewer who pays at yourstudio.com is not one recommendation away from someone else's show.

The steps

  1. Open a studio

Create your studio on Generated Worlds and publish your first series. A person reviews a new studio once before its first series reaches viewers.

  2. Choose free episodes

Set how many episodes are free. Viewers unlock the rest, one at a time, on the same page.

  3. Pick a template

Choose a site template; your series fills it in, and you edit words, pictures and sections by clicking on them.

  4. Buy a domain

Buy yourstudio.com (or any name) at any registrar, such as Cloudflare, Namecheap or Squarespace Domains.

  5. Point it at your site

Add the one DNS record the Domain tab shows you. When it resolves, your site answers at your own address.

  6. Get paid

Your 80% of net revenue collects as viewers unlock episodes, and is paid out through Stripe Connect from $25.

Which one fits

  • You already have a community that pays monthly for access to you: Patreon is built for that relationship.
  • You sell finished downloads — a film file, a project pack, a course: Gumroad.
  • You need your own TV apps and run a subscription business: Uscreen or Vimeo OTT.
  • You make a series and want viewers to pay for the next episode on your own site: Generated Worlds.

Common questions

Do I need my own Stripe account?

You connect a Stripe account to receive payouts; you do not build a checkout. Viewers pay on your site and Generated Worlds handles the payment.

Can I sell a whole season at once?

Viewers unlock episodes individually after the free ones. Per-episode pricing is how serialized drama earns: the viewer pays at the moment they want the next one.
