A secretary is told to use the freight elevator instead of the main one, a small humiliation that becomes the spark for a much bigger move. When she ends up buying the building itself, the office hierarchy she was pushed to the bottom of is turned upside down, and the people who dismissed her must reckon with who really holds the power.
Good thing Mrs. Clara saw right through her. That slap just now felt amazing. Vivian went pale and looked at me. What?
Slap? Have you all lost your minds? How could you hit her? Do you know she is-
I raised a hand to stop her. Not yet. I wasn't ready to reveal who I was. I wanted to see just how far Clara would go.
And I wanted to know who still belonged in this family and who didn't. what is she your sister or your daughter i don't care who she is handle her now right then the conference room doors opened julian romano's meeting had ended through the crowd i saw him step out his face tight with tension clara what's wrong i could hear you
from inside who's got the guts to upset my little princess mr romano just some rookie that doesn't know her place he broke the rules then threatened me who's got the guts to threaten you in my house Then he saw my face, his entire body locked. I let out a cold laugh. Julian Romano, tell me.
Am I the one? The second Julian saw me, he stepped away from Clara. Didn't I tell you to let the elevator go? He forced his face calm.
How did this blow up into something this big? Everyone looked at me at once. Mr. Romano actually knows her? He's still on Clara's side.
Clara's eyes went red instantly. She grabbed Julian's sleeve, voice soft and Mr. Romano, you said everyone in the house has to follow the rules I set.
