A secretary is told to use the freight elevator instead of the main one, a small humiliation that becomes the spark for a much bigger move. When she ends up buying the building itself, the office hierarchy she was pushed to the bottom of is turned upside down, and the people who dismissed her must reckon with who really holds the power.
I'm here to work, not compete with you over a man. And that lift? Starting today, anyone can ride it. Clara's face flushed scarlet.
Who the hell are you? You dare overturn my rules! I've been with Mr. Romano for ten years. The private lift rule has stood for ten years. At that moment, a woman in glasses came from the side of the crowd. She gently tugged my sleeve.
Please, just let it go. I've worked on 63rd floor for years. I've always taken freight 63. I paused. The freight elevator lift only reaches 63.
How did you get up here? She looked carefully at Clara. The stairs. It's only five floors. Think of it as exercise. Don't argue with Secretary Clara. Just apologize to Miss Clara. She'll let you off. I turned to the woman since Windu made members bow to a secretary the next second
