Gate to Goodbye — The Cancelled Booking

Lucas, you're the only one who's ever good to me. Their voices faded down the hall. I looked away quietly. How many times was that now? Right as I was thinking it, my phone buzzed again.

Oh, and Chloe says the couple can't see each other for the three days before the wedding. So I won't be coming by starting tomorrow. See you at the hotel in three days. We won't be seeing each other again. I repeated it silently to myself.

Lucas, there's no future left for us. Three days later, the house was already empty when I woke up early that morning. A message from Mom sat quietly on my phone. Evelyn, we're all taking Chloe to the fan meet.

Lucas already booked you a car. Go ahead to the hotel. We'll be there by noon sharp. Two cars sat quietly outside in the driveway. I went downstairs and walked, without hesitation,

straight toward the black SUV. So, was I late? Nope, not late. He grabbed a massive bouquet from the back seat

and held it out to me. Come on, wherever you want to go, I'll take you there. Lucas, the promise you never kept, someone else will keep it for you.

From here on, the road runs long and far between us. There's no future left for you and me. At the meet, Lucas was distracted the whole time, glancing at his phone every few I still hadn't replied to any of his messages.

His temple throbbed. A bad feeling settled in his chest. Just then, his phone rang. One of his groomsmen.

Man, your fiancé's phone isn't going through at all. Lucas's stomach dropped. Dude, I just asked the front desk. They said there's no wedding happening here today.
