The Long Game — The Elven Academy Arrival

The boy I'd loved for years told me to go flirt with the rival team's star player. So I handed Thane a bottle of water. Kyle laughed. When Thane smashed a ball right into his face, he stopped laughing.

Before the match, Lina asked me in our dorm room, Vera, aren't you heading out yet? Heading where? Seriously? Didn't Kyle tell you there's a game tonight?

Every head in the room swiveled toward me. Kyle was gorgeous, brilliant, and captain of the ghost ball team on top of it all. Girls were forever circling around him. Why would he tell me?

Aren't the two of you really close? I figured he'd definitely invite you to watch. She had a point. Our families had been neighbors for years.

And we'd gone to the same high school, too. I'd once confessed to Kyle. Would you want to go out with me? Vera, I don't date in high school.

Let's wait until college. so i waited and got into the same college as him the elven academy of magic sorry but kyle hadn't changed a bit pretty girls were always around him he never dated any of them just called them all friends slowly it dawned on me i was nothing more than another name on his long list of girlfriends
