Madness Wasn't an Act — The Stormy Ride

Yes, I don't deserve better. This is all my punishment. I earned it. You were here one month. Sienna will never paint again. Not ever. You refuse to ride? Fine. Walk back downtown from this dump out in the sticks. Submit. Obey. Don't fight back. Submit. Obey. Don't fight back.

Scarlet, my god, what have they done to you? Get in my car now. You're covered in wounds. You can't stay out in this rain. No, Dr. Hayes. The academy rules say a virtuous wife must never ride with any man but her husband.

It's a mortal sin. Adultery. Scarlet, snap out of it. We went to college together. I treated your mother. I'm trying to save your life. Is Ethan out of his goddamn mind? If I'm late getting home, Ethan will be furious.

I'm sorry, Dr. Hayes. Please just give me a ride. Madam! Good heavens, you're drenched to the skin. I'll fetch your towels at once. Who was that man?
