Jilted but Upgrade — Episode 3

for a second i had no idea what she meant then i saw it my chest tightened she was wearing my wedding ring i looked at nico's left hand he was wearing the matching band they were the wedding rings i'd picked out myself i'd gone to three jewelry stores had the rings resized twice and even chosen what to engrave inside each one but nico and sofia were already wearing them my mom

Mom saw it, too. Nico, what is this? Nico finally spoke, like it was no big deal. Sophia was holding the rings for me.

She just tried yours on. She'll take it off in a minute. Sophia immediately tried to take it off, but she stopped at her knuckle and pretended it was stuck.

What do I do? It won't come off. Daphne, I didn't mean to. Don't force it.

What if you hurt yourself? I checked the time. Four minutes left. Another yacht!

It's coming this way! Someone really coming to marry her? No way, did Daphne actually find someone else? This just got interesting.

My dad froze. Daphne, what you said earlier? My mom grabbed my arm. You weren't just trying to scare him?

What's this supposed to mean? I didn't answer. Daphne Caritas, I don't care what game you're playing. Don't take this too far.

I looked up at him and almost laughed. I'd loved this man for three years. Now I barely recognized him. Everyone held their breath.
