Sisters — Episode 8

Dad glared at me and mouthed a warning. I nodded obediently, while my left hand reached for the leg of a chair. Then I yanked it as hard as I could. Dad flew into a rage.

He grabbed me by the hair and slapped me hard across the face. Anthony stopped and turned toward the bedroom. What was that? Nothing.

The cat probably knocked over a chair. He crouched down and rubbed the dark red stain between his fingers. This is blood. He tried the bedroom door, but it was locked.

The cat's in heat. She probably bled on the floor. Gross. Come on, let's go wash your hands. Open the door. My dad got drunk and passed out in there.

Let's not bother him. While dad wasn't looking, I pulled off my bracelet and hurled it at the door. It hit with a sharp clang. Anthony's frown deepened. He stepped back and kicked the open. The- Anthony froze. Mom and Isabel both went white.

Mr. DeLuco, this is Liliana, Isabel's twin sister. Liliana? I thought she was dead. She fell into the river and disappeared. We all assumed she'd drowned, but someone rescued her. She'd lost her memory, and she only came home after it returned.
