The Favor of a Monster — Episode 3

Lord Commander, I have served the Empire for 30 years. My family pays gold, grain, and warhorses to the Empire every year. And I come here today only to seek justice. She is a slave of my house.

Last night she sneaked into my vault and stole my most precious gemstone. I could have just chopped off her hands, but I respect the laws of the Empire. So, I brought her before you. Did you find it?

Yes, we did. That settles it. Did you take it? I did.

Throw her into the snake pit. The gemstone is mine. Do you have proof? No.

Then it's his. Throw her in. Lord Commander! The dragon egg started turning cold this morning.

How could this happen?
