Dean and I started living like a real couple. But Dean was a total gentleman. He walked me to school every morning, waited for me after class, and worked every day, even most weekends.

No wonder he made good money. One day, Hallie called me. You've been with Dean this long? You still haven't slept with him? Good men take time.

Dean really was a gentleman. We slept in the same room, and he still never tried anything. I was starting to wonder if something was wrong with him. You're too slow.

He's huge on the campus forum. She sent me several screenshots. Remember the girl selling those dirt cheap lunches? That's Madison Reed.

Isn't she your mortal enemy? She's at the job site every day, bringing him water and handing out free lunches to the crew. She's hot and rich.

I'd be tempted too. Madison and I had never gotten along. She was the cheerleading captain. I was the straight A overachiever.

Every time she saw me, she'd sneer. Straight A's won't make you pretty. Too bad pretty can't fix stupid. Never get a boyfriend.

He'll dump you the second he sees me. If he dumps me for you, he's dumb as hell. Now I thought about Dean. He wasn't stupid, right?

He just seemed a little simple sometimes. The next morning, I went to the construction site to see Dean. I brought him a towel, water, and a clean tank top. And to check on Madison.

I didn't find her. But I spotted Dean immediately. Dean stood with the crew, pointing at the building, looking serious. Then he saw me.

He smiled and jogged over.
