Unwritten Love — Episode 4

After a two-second pause, I got in anyway. As I buckled my seatbelt, I made a point not to look at him. Just drop me off at the network. He said nothing and started the car.

Neither of us said a word the whole way. It was so quiet inside the black sedan that I could hear the low hum of the AC. I looked out the window as the streets blurred past. The network building was getting closer, and when we were only two lights away, I said,

Pull over up ahead. Dante kept his eyes on the road and did not slow down. We're not there yet. Don't drop me right out front.

I bit my lip. It's my promotion day. I don't need people gossiping. He was quiet for a second. Then he pulled over by the curb. I pushed the door open, got out, and thanked him.

Thank you, Mr. Russo. I'd rather you just call me Dante. You're getting married. I shouldn't. Dante didn't say another word.

He only glanced at the rearview mirror, hit the gas, and drove off. Luckily, I made it on time. As soon as I walked into the TV network, co-workers came over to congratulate me.

Congrats, Gia. When you're lead producer, coffee's on you. I smiled. Dinner's on me.
