The Eighth Choice — Episode 5

Merely condolences from His Majesty Nothing to read into beyond that my apologies for the abruptness everyone his majesty is simply concerned for the orphaned child of an old friend

regardless i hope you will consider my marriage proposal were i not needed on the battlefield to embolden my troops i would have asked you in person oh my god is this the king's own He proposed to you in a letter? I've heard his majesty is quite old, and one of his legs is lame.

Honestly, my lady, I still think Zoe's a better match for you. He's young and handsome, and you are in your prime, Lady Margaret. I had hoped things would follow father's wishes. Before he died, he made it clear I was to choose a husband from among the seven.

Why else would he have raised them all these years? Besides, you've harbored feelings for Zoe for so long. His majesty says this must be kept secret, to prevent assassins from targeting you because of it.

You were wise to say it was a letter of condolence. Look! He included a love poem! And yet by heaven I think my love as rare as any she belied with false compare. The king is quite literate.

Enough, Alice.
