A star quarterback treats his relationship like a joke, never expecting the girl he keeps stringing along to finally walk away. When she does, he's forced to chase the love he carelessly threw away and prove he can be the man she deserved all along.
sweetheart start fresh when you get there forget those idiots you deserve better my eyes burned again kindness from a stranger always hurts more than cruelty from someone you know i took a deep breath a new start was coming go joan miller monday morning i grabbed my backpack and left like usual be careful on the way come straight home after campus tristan's mom texted about a barbecue
between our families tonight okay i lied i hadn't told my parents it was my last day at this campus My aunt said my room was ready. I'd explain everything once I was settled. When I got to campus, everything felt the same,
except the glances in the hallway held more mockery. Yo, scoreboard girls here. No tape today? Heard Tristan went to her place this weekend and she blew him off.
I walked expressionlessly to my locker, let them talk. It was my last day here anyway. Tristan was already waiting, leaning against my locker. Still mad?
I ignored him and opened my locker. I emptied everything inside. Textbooks, notes, photos, a small mirror, highlighters, erasers, everything. He frowned. Joan, enough already. I said I'm sorry. What more do you want? Everyone was just having Chris got half his eyebrows shaved off last week and he didn't act like this. I still didn't speak. I kept packing things into my cardboard box. Just then, Sloan walked over.
Morning, Tristan. Joan, you doing okay? Yeah. Want to go to Target after campus? I need new dorm decor. Sure.
Then he remembered I was there. Uh, Joan, you wanna come too?
