I'd been in love with Tyler Bennett for years, so after he confessed to the hot new cheerleader everyone in school expected me to show up and snap, but I didn't. Tyler Bennett, the school's star quarterback, was making a grand, romantic gesture for Chloe, the gorgeous new transfer student on the cheer squad.

He told everyone to keep it a secret from me, but someone had already let it slip. Everyone at school knew I was hopelessly obsessed with him. They thought I'd do anything just to breathe his air. And now, Tyler had fallen for Chloe at first sight.

He was dead serious about her. So everyone figured I'd throw a massive tantrum. Cry, beg, make a scene, a front row seat to a meltdown. Nobody wanted to miss that.

But right until Tyler finished his cheesy confession, I still hadn't shown up. The crowd started to lose interest. Even Tyler didn't look happy. He had his arm around his new girlfriend, pulling out his phone.

No missed calls, no texts. He frowned slightly. Holy crap! Avery's here!

Told you. No way she could stay away. Tyler's head snapped up. I don't want to say something harsh.

I'll always care about you like a sister. If you ever need anything, you can still come to me. Everyone's watching. Don't make a scene, okay?

Just go home. Tyler. Avery, be reasonable.
