The Boyfriend Lie — Episode 2

I raised my hand, and right then, the shuttle driver slammed on the brakes. My slap never landed. Instead, I lost my balance and stumbled hard toward the guy sitting next to us. Leo didn't even reach out to catch me.

I braced for impact, my face stopping inches away from the strangers. We were so close, we almost kissed. He had his wireless earbuds in. We locked eyes for a brief second, before he simply turned his head away.

The second I got my balance back, Leo started up again. If that's really how you see it, there's nothing I can do. I think we need some space. Take a break. Your call. The moment he said it, I stopped being angry. Fine. Break up. There are a million hotter guys on campus. Sure, let's break up. Between the two of you, you're the dramatic one.

What? Leo froze for a second. Then it clicked, and his face went absolutely feral. Mia! One boyfriend isn't enough for you? You've got some other guy on the side? You've got it twisted. He's the main guy. I just kept him off my feed.

I said, sighing and shaking my head, like I was deeply disappointed in him. You're the side piece who wouldn't stop blowing up my phone and forced your way into our relationship? The entire bus of eavesdropping students couldn't hold it in anymore. Whispers broke out. You could practically hear them thinking,
