When a dare from her crush pushes her to prank his rival, a simple bottle of water sets off a chain of misunderstandings that could upend everything. Caught between the boy she likes and the target of her prank, she must navigate tangled feelings and the fallout of one reckless choice.
The guy I'd loved for years told me to flirt with the rival quarterback. So I handed Ethan a bottle of water at halftime. Lucas laughed. He stopped laughing when Ethan crushed his team.
Before the scrimmage, Chloe asked me in our dorm room, Ava, aren't you leaving yet? Go where? No way.
Didn't Lucas tell you about tonight's scrimmage? Everyone in the room turned to look at me. Lucas was handsome, smart, and the captain of the football team. Girls were always chasing after him.
Why would he tell me? Aren't you too close? I thought he'd definitely ask you to come watch. She wasn't wrong. Our families had been neighbors for years, and we went to the same high school. I ever confessed to Lucas, but...
Do you want to go out with me? Ava, I don't date in high school. Let's wait until college. So I waited until I got into the same college as him, but Lucas was still exactly the same. Beautiful girls were always around him.
He never dated any of them, but called them friends. Little by little, I realized the truth. I was just one more girl in that long list of friends.
