Over the year, my boyfriend Chase was abroad. I went from 200 pounds down to 90 pounds. Today was the day he came back home. I stood at the arrival gate holding a bouquet of flowers, my nerves on edge.

Before Chase left, he'd said, Claire, we'll go public with our relationship when I get back. He stroked the top of my head. Back then, I'd believed him.

We grew older. His attitude toward me grew increasingly strange. At home, he'd eat the meals I cooked and play video games with me. But at school, he acted as if he didn't know me.
