I am Maxine. After episode four dropped, a lot of people asked why we made the bullying victim an Asian character.

Briargrin is a really diverse school, but diversity doesn't mean there aren't undercurrents. Exactly. In real life, it's not just Asian American students

who get targeted on overseas campuses. That's why we gave the victim that background. We want people to recognize which words and actions are disrespectful. At the very least, you can tell when someone's acting out of malice.
