A doctor in a white coat and mask checked us carefully. You're fine. Welcome to the Ark. This is your home now. Her voice came muffled through the mask, oddly unsettling. Inside, the shelter was more complete than expected—food and water areas, tidy rest zones, even quarantine clinics.

People looked exhausted, but at least the fear of dying outside was gone. We were assigned a small cubicle. And got basic supplies. On the surface,

everything seemed settled. But I couldn't relax. It's too normal. Eerily normal.

Outside, it's the apocalypse, yet here they maintain this precise social order. Rations, registration,

patrols. Everyone knows their role. It's disturbingly efficient. And I noticed details.

The doctor who checked us walked almost silently. Too fluid in movement. Even weirder, in the exam room, his fingers were ice cold.

He smelled weird too. No sweat, just a faint, like disinfectant mixed with death.

Others like him were in the shelter. Among management and guards. They looked like everyone else. Actually, a bit too perfect.

Just the right expressions. Rarely any emotion. But the glances they threw— made my blood run cold.

That's not a normal person's look. Under that gentle exterior, pure observation, scrutiny. That look,

so like Aunt Zhang standing outside, staring through the peephole. They're watching everyone.
